In the real world, manga artist Xie Xin finishes the first part of her series Breaking the Cocoon: Rebirth, only to face harsh criticism from her editor about the lack of charm in the male characters and a disappointing ending. Determined to improve, Xie Xin rewrites the opening for the new season: After being shot, Xie Qiu wakes up to discover she has entered a time loop. In the manga world, Xie Qiu, with the memories of the previous cycle, returns to twenty days before her suicide, to a time when she appeared to have a perfect family. The four cycles feel like a glimpse into her destined future, yet also like a vivid, terrifyingly real dream. The man who shot her, Wei Wuxin, appears again.
